This is a tough question and I only ask because I saw an advertisement today for vegan dog food and I am also interested to hear people’s opinions because on one hand a dog’s lineage is of a carnivore right? So it was bred and created and lived to hunt but on the other hand that is not what your dog is currently doing and as a domesticated pet your dog is being fed animal product and byproduct that was made in the same inhumane and borderline torturous conditions of today’s slaughterhouses. As a vegan that speaks to you and you live your lifestyle in opposition to those acts so can you feel right giving your dog food that has meat? As with everything else these days there are substitutes so for probably the first time ever you can make that decision and decided to feed them animal free food. I am not even sure how to answer this question to be honest. I have never even thought about an alternative to the food I currently give our dog and while yes it is a good point about the meat in the product dogs are naturally meat eaters. I will say this though my dogs favorite treat of all time are carrots. He looooooves carrots.
What are your thoughts?
