Yes, you heard that right. In a place well known for their steakhouses as much as its soccer in the United States Marfrig Global Foods SA who is based in Brazil and is one of the world’s largest producer of animal-based hamburgers has announced a partnership with Archer Daniels Midland Co. with the goal of launching a vegan burger throughout Brazil.
I’m not going to lie I had to do a double take; your telling me a country who the majority of Americans will associate with such places as Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse and Texas de Brazil which basically sit you down and force feed you meat until you have to tell them to stop, or throw up, is going to start producing and distributing a plant based burger? I love it. This is the ultimate test right? Can a vegan burger be successful in a place known for its meat? Not to mention Archer Daniels is a massive corporate conglomerate which shows to popularity (and also the profits) that are both being made and continue to be projected in the vegan community. Marfrig Global Foods SA will now look to grab a share of the market one of its competitors JBS SA entered into and has been selling under its “Seara” brand name. Let’s keep it going community, the message is spreading and spreading fast. Beyond Meat is going to have lots of competitors in the very near future they better continue to bring their “A” game.
